Was very reluctant to visit any place that had anything to do with my hearing. Denial. I’m close to 70 years old and I couldn’t hear my wife anymore and couldn’t understand conversations during family dinners. The deafness was real. Arguments ensued and finally after an extreme amount of homework, Miracle Ear was the right choice! Sure, I considered $20.00 hearing aids, it was my hearing, cheap wasn’t going to cut it. Now to find one close to home. I researched the address and found one conveniently located within 10 minutes from home. Miracle Ear Cape Coral. Just decided to walk in and get more information, I received some technological information and met the staff. Very welcoming, warm and friendly, like family. The technology “sounded” awesome ( no pun intended ). After this visit I was given some information and an appointment at my convenience. Returning for this appointment made it real. I didn’t want to believe I was going deaf, too late. After initial testing we realized I should have made this appointment 10 years ago. Well, the damage is done after 15 years of hard rock concerts and submarine duty all of which took its toll. You don’t realize how far gone your hearing is until you can’t hear your wife say I love you! After the testing we realized how bad it had gotten, I was given a test pair to understand how far gone my hear loss was. WOW, I had no idea. I do recommend, anyone that thinks they may be experiencing hearing loss to schedule an appointment. The next appointment I received a fitted pair of technologically advanced inside the ear hearing aids. When I walked out I immediately realized what I had been missing for years. As Bill explained, hearing loss is slow and subtle, so I didn’t notice. My neighbors noticed, because when I listen to AC/DC, so do they! I am three months into my new hearing aid usage. Hearing loss can’t be fixed but a few things, the volume on my TV has been reduced by a 1/3, I will not be auditioning for the Voice ( you really don’t know how bad you sound singing in the car ) and on numerous occasions I forget that they are still in my ears.
